Produced by NC3D for AECOM, the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham, and the In-Town Transit Partnership, this animation follows a proposed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route linking five popular downtown destinations in Birmingham, AL. Created to demonstrate the advantages of BRT, key features of the system and highlight projected development along the route, this video allows Birmingham residents to envision exactly how BRT will look and function in their city. This animation was produced using 3D Studio Max and custom green screen actors. One of most complex elements was combining information from so many sources to create a forward-looking mass model of downtown Birmingham. We combined existing and proposed project information including: new urban design standards, the Lyric Theater renovation, preliminary designs for a new multi-purpose stadium and entertainment district, massing for new neighborhood development, new UAB medical facilities and the proposed Railway Park, intermodal center and realignment of I-20-59.
